Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue

Brodie

Adult | Male | Adopted

From Brodie's foster mom:

When my husband and I think about why we foster, dogs like Brodie immediately make it clear. Brodie is a sweet and laid-back 7 year old pup looking for a new life. He loves going for walks and then curling up on the couch with you. He’s also very good with other dogs and rides well in the car. Best of all, he knows a lot of tricks like – sit, stay, wait, and shake. And if you’re really lucky, he’ll give you a sweet smooch. He is an absolute joy to have around. But it has taken us time to get to this point.

When Brodie first arrived at OBG he needed 26 teeth removed and hadn’t seen a vet in 4 years. He was also terrified of everything and everyone, especially men. It seemed clear that he had not always known a loving hand and would shy away from us and sit trembling and uncertain. It was so clear to us that he wanted love, but it took him time to approach us and let us pet him. After several months, we are happy to report that Brodie is learning how to accept love and attention with gusto. Just last night he spent the evening happily laying belly up across my husband’s lap while we watched the Nats.

Now Brodie is ready for his new forever family. His ideal family would be an adult-only home. Loud noises and sudden movements are just never going to be Brodie’s favorite things. He takes an inexpensive pill daily to treat separation anxiety. We are hopeful that with lots of love and care he’ll be able to stop the meds one day, but in the meantime they make life much more comfortable for everyone. Like so many cockers, Brodie also appears to have food allergies and will need to stay on prescription hypoallergenic food for life. This food doesn’t cost any more than other high-quality dog foods.

Brodie deserves so much more in life than what he’s gotten thus far. Do you have it in your heart to help him achieve his full potential?
