Ghost

Thought he'd be white? Not this Ghost! Is he going to sit behind you and put his paws on your hands when you're doing pottery? Not this Ghost! But he would love to do some doggy dancing to Unchained Melody...

Ghost spent a long, lonely time as a stray in a high-kill shelter before OBG swooped in to save him. This five-year-old is tall, dark, and handsome with a gorgeous black coat and beautiful brown markings. Ghost is an extremely sweet boy and loves to cuddle. His favorite position is on his back for a belly rub.  Ghost loves people of all ages and readily offers up smooches to whoever pets him at adoption events. OBG recommends, however, that he lives with humans over 8 years old.  He is a true gentleman and lives peacefully in his foster home with another cocker spaniel (Rocky) and 3 other dogs and 2 cats!

Ghost is starved for affection (he may get in between you and whoever else you are petting) and will truly be a “velcro dog” that follows his Mom and Dad everywhere! Ghost loves car rides and lies nicely in the seat when he’s not sticking his head out the windows and catching some air.  He is high energy and full of personality.

Ghost is a survivor…

He recently developed hemolytic anemia but the vet saved his life and loved him through his sickness. What this means is that his body attacked his red blood cells and additionally, he developed pancreatitis which quickly resolved.  His blood is close to normal now, but he won’t be able to get regular flea/tick/heartworm medicine or any vaccines as these treatments may cause another reaction.   He is completing his steroid treatment.

He loves walks.  He was not a fan of his reduced activity level while he recovered, so understandably his leash manners got a bit rusty, but we expect them to improve soon!   Exercise is now allowed but within reason and, progressive. After a prolonged steroid treatment, he now has a skin infection that is being treated.

We think Ghost will do well and lead a great life, he just needs a little extra care. He is on a grain-free diet which helps keep any allergies at bay. Ghost is a truly sweet boy and will make an amazing addition to your family!
