Junior is a sweet and well-tempered 26-pound, 15-year old dog, who has the goofy personality of a puppy and the quiet good manners of a gentleman. He greets everyone, even strangers (and the vet!), like long lost friends. He gets along well with other dogs and is mildly curious about these things called “cats.”

Junior is hypothyroid, a life-long condition that is easy and inexpensive to treat. He  takes two pills a day with each meal and needs a quick blood test every six months to verify that his dose is correct.

Junior also has a condition called "dry eye" and a corneal (eye) disease/inflammation, both of which are lifelong conditions but both of which are now under control. He will require at least one prescription eye drop (called Tacrolimus) three times a day for the rest of his life.  He is currently being weaned down off of an intensive regimen of 4 eye drops and it is possible he may need more than one kind of eye drop going forward. Junior, however, sits patiently and politely while they’re administered – his tail wagging the whole time.

His foster mom reports that from a temperament standpoint, Junior is a near-perfect dog. He is house-trained, sleeps as late as you do, loves to be with his people, and enjoys his daily strolls around the neighborhood. With a splash of Golden Retriever in him, his foster mom calls him, a “Golden Cocker.”

Junior may be a senior dog, but all signs indicate that he has many, many happy, active years ahead of him. You will be hard pressed to find a dog as sweet, easy going and companionable as this guy. If you can offer Junior a place to hang his leash, a hip to snuggle next to, and the vet care and meds he needs, he'd pay you back with all the love and good humor he can give. And you wouldn’t regret a second.
