Hello, my name is Brady. I'm a two-and-a-half-year-old, 30-lbs Cocker Spaniel. I am a very affectionate dog who loves to fall asleep in your lap. I've been through obedience training where I learned to sit, stay, play fetch, and to wait for an "okay" before I dive into my food bowl. I am housebroken and can be left alone to roam the house with no problem. Not to brag, but I'm pretty smart and learn quickly.

My favorite game is to play fetch. I can find tennis balls no matter where they land and I'll run back to drop it at your feet as fast as you can throw it.

I was abandoned at a vet's office in Maryland almost a year ago. No one really knows about my first year but sometimes I find new dogs (especially if they are bigger than me) and new people scary. I am especially nervous around children; they are just too unpredictable. When I get scared I am sometimes reactive - I'll bark and growl to warn folks that I'm nervous and need out of a particular situation. It doesn't take very long for me to get comfortable with new people and new dogs. I just need a good introduction. Then I'm just charming!

My current owners have been taking care of me for the last year. They love me so much but they will soon be growing their family and I am not the best dog for toddlers or young children. They don't understand not to grab toys from me or not to try to pick me up.

I love chew toys but I can sometimes be possessive of my food and toys, especially if you try to take these out of my mouth. My current adopters have helped me learn to wait for permission to take things if asked and also to drop things – told you I’m pretty smart!

I'm hoping to find a home with someone who is patient and will help me continue to make progress on being calm in more situations. My current owners have really helped me a lot and I know I can continue to learn. The ideal family for me would be folks that have experience with resource guarding dogs like me or folks willing to learn a lot about this. I am such a sweet, loving dog 99% of the time. I need a home that will be patient with me and help me learn to be a great dog all of the time.
