Smokey Joe

On Saturday, July 25th, OBG Cocker Rescue facilitated the rescue of 46 dogs off of a property in Virginia.  These dogs were living in a hot barn without anyone to give them proper exercise or keep their water dishes filled.  They are now safe with OBG and Smokey Joe has been living with his foster family and doing well. 

Hi World!

I am a dashing,  handsome, cute, suave and very energetic young fellow seeking applications to be my new family!  I am 8 years young.I am only 17 pounds, but it is 17 pounds packing a punch, let me tell you! And everyone says I have striking good looks. ( I am modest so would never say that myself!).

My foster family have been taking care of me after I was rescued from a barn packed with 46 other doggies!  I was very, very thin, and had all sorts of things wrong with me, (all of which could have been avoided if someone had just looked after me) including heartworm disease.  I am nearly through that treatment now, and doing really well, so my family think that it is time that the World got to meet me! Everything else has been fixed.  I will be ready to start interviewing in just a couple of weeks – so exciting!

I love to cuddle, and tuck my head down into you, give soft kisses on your nose, sit on your lap, or next to you, and I also love to walk, and run after squirrels and cats.  I am very active and because I have to be quiet right now, Mom and Dad have to stop me gathering all the toys in the house, including Dragon (thanks Barbara who transported me to my foster family!), piling them in one place, then running around again moving them all to another place!  Such fun! My people think that I have to have my own fenced yard to  be safe from getting lost.

I get along well with my foster sisters, but am wary at first when I  meet dogs I don’t know.  I seem to be submissive in some ways and my family think perhaps I have been mistreated in the past.  I love my foster sisters, and share and play with them nicely. I am very charming to visitors and good with people, very kind and gentle.  All I want is love.  I had to have some teeth removed and now my tongue pokes out when I am relaxed and happy, which gives me a really unique look!

I am good for baths and groomers, at the vets they love me (treats, yummy), the dog next door loves me too!  Please consider applying for me – I promise you that you won’t be disappointed in me!  I am waiting for you……contact me soon! And bring a ball or two – I love chasing them and bring them back so we can keep playing and playing………( and one secret – I hate the rain, and you will have to make me go outside in it! but that is such a small thing to have to worry about.)
