Cocoa's owner passed away and her family members were unable to keep her. This 4-year-old is a sweetie that fell on hard times, but OBG gave her the 5-star treatment with full vetting and a day at the doggy spa to relieve her of her matted coat.
In her previous home, Cocoa lived with adult humans and two Chihuahuas. She barks a little at new people, but warms up quickly after properly meeting them. At the current time, we do not know if she gets along with cats or kids.
Cocoa is quite the escape artist and we've heard she can jump short fences and dig under tall ones. She'll need a family who can keep an eye on her so she doesn't wander the neighborhood in search of adventure. Her love of jumping can also be channeled into a dog sport like agility or flyball.
Cocoa is undergoing treatment for heartworms. While she is receiving treatment, she will need to get lots of rest and avoid any physical activity beyond trips to go potty. Once Cocoa's heartworms are behind her, she'll be spayed and ready to go to her forever home.
