Dogs appearing on this page have special needs
that either required significant medical attention by OBG, will require a
special home to help them overcome past trauma, or are just looking for a
retirement home for their final time on earth. For many of them we are looking
for sponsors to help defray medical costs. Your sponsorship of these dogs
would be greatly appreciated! Instructions for sponsoring are
at the bottom of this page.
Of course fostering or adopting a special needs dog can be one of the most rewarding efforts the
right person can make in his or her lifetime. If you think that you might be the
Good Samaritan to help one of our special needs dogs, click on each dog's name to get a
full description of each future friend and his/her limitations.

Buster We have discovered Buster has a chronic liver problem and requires daily medication.
| Cody Cody can't hear you! He's still able to function like any other dog in his foster home and is as happy as can be. Lots of times humans think this is a bad thing, it's truly not a handicap at all. These doggies don't bark! They truly do fine when communicating with their owners and some know hand signals.
| Collin Collin requires ear ablation surgery in both of his ears. This typically occurs when chronic ear infections have gone untreated for a long period of time. Unfortunately, this little one is likely uncomfortable or in pain now but meds help and once the surgery is over, he should feel great and once again be carefree! If you can help us pay for Collin's surgery, he'd be flattered. It is estimated to costs around $1,000 for both ears.

Dusty Dusty has been diagnosed with Fanconi's Syndrome. This is a kidney disorder which causes him to drink a lot of water and use the bathroom frequently.
| Ebbie Were sorry to report that Ebbie has passed over to the rainbow bridgeEbbie seems to have an unusual quirk, she has a perpetual sneeze. She's been to the vet and it has been determined it is nothing contagious (like kennel cough) but we haven't been able to determine what causes this. She's taking antihistamines and they help to reduce the sneezing a lot. Her forever family should know she's charming, happy and loving and if they don't mind sniffles she'll be a fabulous family member!
| Jack2 This sweet boy seems to have weak hind legs. The doc thinks he may have spinal compression which is causing this. Jack2 is currently taking an anti-inflamm and it's being treated as arthritis would. He seems to feel better already! He would likely do best in a one-story home so he doesn't have to bother himself with stairs. This sweet and gentle guy deserves only the best in life. Does he sound like a good fit for you?
Adoption Pending |
Jake Jake has previously had ear ablation surgery on both of his ears. This means he is mostly deaf but allowed him to be pain free! His hearing loss doesn't bother him a bit! He's still just as alert and happy as all the other pups. Unfortunately Mr. Jake's ears have been bothering him again. He has seen his doc and we hope meds will make him all better. We will keep you posted!
| Jewel Jewel has a heart murmur and will have to be on medication for her heart for the rest of her life. Fortunately, the doctors expect her to be able to live a long and happy life as long as she stays on her heart meds.
| Kelsey When Kelsey came to us she could not see or hear. She has now gotten much needed surgery on her eyes, which corrected the eyelashes from growing inward and scratching her eyes. We are happy to report she now has limited vision in one eye! Daily, inexpensive eyedrops will preserve this vision. Kelsey is so grateful for her new peephole from which to view the world! Kelsey is on meds for arthritis and has a heart murmur. Kelsey would be honored to receive a donation to help defray the cost of her surgery. This girl will bring you lots of joy and happiness if you welcome her into your life!

Lady Lady has glaucoma in one eye and has an appointment to see the eye doctor. We will keep you posted on his recommendations!
| Marilyn Monroe Marilyn Monroe came to us with very limited vision. Fortunately the doctor believes she's a candidate for cataract surgery in at least one eye so with the help of your donations, she may soon be able to see the world! She also has two luxating patellas which means her knees pop out of joint on occasion. We will further evaluate her to see if surgery is needed to alleviate any pain she may be in.
| Otis Otis has one of the best temperaments we've come across in a long time. This is one reason we were saddened to learn he has a heart murmur. An echocardiogram showed irregularities in his heart so we are having him further examined. He also has 2 luxating patellas which cause him to walk bowlegged. Fortunately they do not bother him so for now, he's okay as far as that goes. We will update you once we learn more about Otis' prognosis and what we can do for him. If you can help donate towards his diagnosis and care, he will wiggle his little butt as fast as he can...just for you!

Rambler Ramber tested a high heartworm positive. The vet is treating him with Heartguard for 3 months to kill any baby heartworms that may be present. Then he will begin the standard heartworm treatment which consists of several injections. He needs to be kept calm and quiet during his treatment. This typically costs approx $500. Can you help donate towards making Rambler a healthy hunk again?
| Rocco Rocco has been diagnosed with Cushings disease and the beginnings of cardiomyopathy. He will require daily medication to treat these conditions. He is deaf and is developing cataracts.
| Tony I tested positive for heartworm. I will soon begin treatments thanks to your kind donation (typically costs approx $500). I need to stay calm and quiet until I'm completely healed. Once I've got my good health back, I'd love to meet you! Feel free to ask how I'm doing.2/15 UPDATE: Tony doing better after his reaction at the injection site after first HW treatment. He will have his next HW treatment on Mar 2nd or 3rd. He could go to a foster home until he has his next treatment but can also stay put if there is not foster available. Foster would have to keep Ton quiet and crated except for bathroom excursions. Tony received high marks for temperament from Crosspointe. They are adored and receive loads of attention.
