Sammy's StoryPage last updated on Saturday, March 31, 2007.
Several years ago, Sammy found himself on the doorstep of an Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue foster home. He was frightened and fearful of people. When he came to foster care, he had his eyesight but as time went on, in addition to being homeless, Sammy went totally blind at age 4. Despite his blindness, from genetic cataracts, Sammy made the best of things but could not find a home. No one wanted to adopt a blind dog and Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue had limited funds that we needed for all our rescued dogs. Then something wonderful happened. Because of many loving, concerned individuals who gave donations to help with Sammy's surgery, Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue, Inc. received enough money to have eye surgery which restored Sam's eyesight. Sammy could see again! He's now living with a wonderful cocker angel in Stafford, Virginia who is giving him the love he has so long deserved. A real Happy Ending, all because of folks who cared and helped this little guy regain his sight. So in honor of our Sammy, we established the Sammy Fund (As was initially established to raise money for his surgery). The proceeds from the fund will continue to be used for any cockers in need of medical care when they come into foster care. In 2001, over $55,000 was spent on medical expenses to treat all the rescued souls that came into foster care. Some had cancerous tumors, others Cushings disease or even heartworm. Your donation in any amount does help. If you would like to honor Sammy and help another rescue dog, please send your tax deductible contribution to: Oldies But Goodies Cocker Rescue, Inc., Or donate by credit card in a secure environment by clicking on the Helping.org logo below:
