He floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee!  It's THE CHAMP!

Champ is a big handsome boy that came into rescue because his owner had cancer and could no longer take care of him.  He was a bit scared and confused when he arrived at his foster home and was putting on a "tough guy" persona.  Now that he's settled into his new home, he's turned out to be a big marshmallow.

Champ is quite a couch potato (without the couch--he NEVER gets up on the furniture!) and is a very well behaved boy. He is housebroken and crate trained and will bark at the door to tell you he needs to go outside.  He’s excellent on a leash and would love to accompany you on long walks. He’s not a chewer, although he does have an appetite for paper products!  He’s recently shown an interest in playing fetch and his favorite hobby is stealing toilet paper off the roll!  He's very affectionate, loves to give kisses, and his motor tail never stops wagging.  Champ can often be found in the kitchen sprawled out in “the frogger” position to “help” you cook. He gets along great with his dog friends but hasn't been tested with cats.

Champ came to us weighing in at a whopping 37 pounds so we needed to get this heavyweight down to more of a welterweight!  Now that he’s been getting lots of exercise and a healthy diet, he’s lost 4 pounds and is almost down to his ideal weight of about 30 pounds.  Champ has been given the clean bill of health and is in excellent shape for a middle aged boy.

Since he can sometimes be grouchy when he doesn't want to do something, we would recommend that Champ's forever home not have young kids or unsupervised young visitors. He will need a patient and dog-savvy owner who will be willing to work with him on trusting people and encouraging him to letting his “tough guy” guard down.

If you'd like to be the forever home for a sweet boy that's down--but not out-- for the count, please contact his agent today!
