Talk about the miracle of being in the right place at the right time! One of OBG's volunteers happened to stop by animal control to renew his own dogs' licenses, when he overheard someone mention an elderly stray cocker spaniel there, scheduled to be put to sleep that afternoon. An hour and several phone calls later, Murray was whisked away to the safety of an OBG foster home. Murray is a gentle, laid-back kind of guy. He's very charming and personable. He has bright and eager eyes, smiles a lot, loves to be petted, and is keen on dog treats. He gets along just fine with the other dogs in his foster home, being a well socialized gentleman. He loves to go for walks, and he also knows how to use the doggie door though he prefers to have a human "invite" him along to use it. He will even clamber up into your lap and snooze, if you let him! He has a perpetually wagging tail (as the video above shows!), and charms everyone at our adoption shows. While Murray is a happy guy, we suspected he had some medical issues simply by the amount of water he was drinking. What a camel! Sure enough Murray was diagnosed with Cushings disease (an adrenal gland disorder), which is controllable with medication. Now that the Cushings has been stabilized, he has been neutered and is ready for his forever home. Murray is looking for a lap to snuggle in, a companion with whom to retire. Is that you?
We would greatly appreciate donations to offset Murray's medical bills which total $1800 to date. Please send donations to OBG Cocker Rescue, Inc., (Murray Fund) To donate via credit card in a secure environment, click on Helping.org below (indicate for Murray on the on-line form):
