Save a Sato is primarily dedicated to improving the quality of life for homeless and abused companion animals on the island of Puerto Rico. It takes its name from "Sato",a slang term for "mixed breed street animals" in Puerto Rico and the magnitude of the problem is staggering. It is estimated that of the one million dogs on the island, over 333,000 have been abandoned to their extreme suffering and the ratio is even higher for cats. The heroic efforts of groups like Save a Sato have been documented in Animal Channel programs, the November 1997 issue of DogWorld, and an American Humane Association video narrated by Sally Jesse Raphael. Each dog is shipped no charge to the nearest major airport to the adopter and arrive with a veterinary approved and stamped health certificate. Save a Sato appreciates a donation in any amount to help cover the cost of rehabilitation.

Hearts United for Animals is a no-kill shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization dedicated to the relief of suffering. HUA takes all dogs - dogs who are sick or injured, dogs who have been abused, and we heal their bodies and their hearts. There has almost never been a dog HUA have not been able to help. Those dogs that cannot be adopted stay with them as Sanctuary Sweethearts. They will enjoy loving care for the rest of their lives at the Shelter.

The Senior Dogs Project: Their mission includes: to document the strong, loving bonds that people have with their older dogs, encourage the adoption of older dogs, and provide current information on the special care that older dogs need so that they and their human companions may fully enjoy their golden years.

Checkmates Cocker Condo:   Checkmate was a rescue cocker spaniel, his new family found him on the Internet.  "Mom" learned a lot when she adopted Checkmate, and has set up a website to help other adopters and their new dogs get acclimated more easily.  Lots of links to health and psychology pages and other cocker spaniel rescue groups.
