In memory of our beloved foster dog, Blackjack
Blackjack came into the rescue at 3 years old in April of 2008. He came to live at our house in September of 2008 and went to the bridge on March 11, 2009.

 Ode to Blackjack

    Farewell my friend, my constant shadow. You guarded me fiercely, as if it was your most important job. Even if the "threat" was your foster siblings or a vacuum cleaner, you kept me safe from harm. You laid beside me and always kept me warm.

    I'll always remember you with a ball in your mouth and wiggle in your butt, that is how you greeted us. You would never tire of playing fetch, even when we were exhausted and our arms were sore from throwing the ball. Its sad that your time on earth was so brief. I tried to give you a good life and you gave me lots of love. I like to picture you in Heaven playing with all the other dogs I ever loved. Someday when I am called home I will rejoice in seeing you again, until then I will keep you in my heart.
