Casey -our Princess

Birthdate: January 21, 1994
Passing Date: Aug 24, 2007

Without a doubt Casey was the true representation of a guardian Angel in our family. She succeeded in giving each one of us, special & unique happiness in so many ways, in spite of her ailments & challenges throughout her life.

She still always kept her amazingly sweet & positive stare through her gentle eyes, expressing her constant loyal, deep love towards us, especially for my brother Tom, Suzanne & Toby.  Casey was our hope, courage, strength & happiness.

She lost her own best friend "Toby, the Tobster" almost 1 yr. before her own passing. Through all her own masked sadness & loneliness with Toby gone, she still maintained that grand "wiggle-butt" & special Casey smile through her cocker whiskers! causing anyone seeing her to want to reach out & give her a hug & pet her shiny black coat of hair. She loved to prompt you to help her find her special stuffed toy (of the day) to just pounce on once or twice. Any more effort put forth more than that, well just wasn't as much fun for her as watching her buddy Toby obsessively lick one of his favorite stuffed toys continuously. She'd often rest patiently & faithfully next to "the Tobster", till he'd get bored & switch from his obsession licking his stuffed toy, towards perhaps licking her back, totally soaking it. He thought that was great of course, but she'd eventually get up, shake herself off with her wiggle-butt Casey smile, almost seeming as if she was embarrassed.

Casey in her younger days was quite the "instigator" too, with some funny mishaps...There was the time she got bored & persuaded Toby to join her in the ultimate "break-out escape!" This took an ingenious thought process! The escape began from an upstairs bedroom door that was shut (even extra secured with a rope), to a downstairs back patio porch which had nice vinyl windows. Needless to say 1 vinyl window had the disturbed appearance of a clever "Casey" clawed out hole...which let to the back steps outside! Thank goodness after a quick venture romping across the golf course, she and Toby got pooped out & she led them back home. Grandpa Bill (Dad) wasn't too happy but as he said, "It's fixable." But, I don't think there was any cookie-treats given out that night.

Oh, but, treats & snacking? Yes, was one of Casey's favorite past times; to catch a treat & eat. She was my brother Tom's "houdini" vacuum for food! Sneaking a flirty beg, especially from Grandpa Bill to share one of his many snacks was always fun for Casey. Crumbs, crumbs, yummy! When my brother would catch her in the act, her expression was as though she was saying "who me?"

Casey gave so much endless companionship, support, love & hope to my brother & Suzanne. I thank her forever for being there for as long as she could following Toby's passing. "She fought a good fight," as they say. She did her very best. Tom & Suzanne did exactly the same for Casey as well, giving both their utmost of love & efforts, keeping her happy & comfortable through her last struggles with her illnesses. They deserve so much praise & respect for their constant positive attitudes & examples of hope. This experience has been a continual inspiration for me & everyone who knows them and their lives. -Never give up hope & don't take the easy way out... It takes a team of family & friends all together to live & love the best of life along side our pets lives.

In spite of her illnesses big & small following through to her death, all the love, strength & guidance we gave Casey will follow her forever as it will with us, in endless fond memories. Thank you Casey for these precious memories of strength & courage you gave us all. You will be in our souls forever.
Love, Tammy
