Many of you knew my Ernie, and for those of you who didn't, he was a wonderful friend to me for  5 years.
I met him in November 2002 when I was to foster him for the holidays.  He came to me with many health problems, but was the happiest boy despite his ailments.  It was as if he always had lived with us, so we adopted him Christmas Eve, 2002.

Through the years, he became a healthy, beautiful boy who was as gentle as a Teddy Bear.  Ernie was friends with everyone, children, dogs, veterinarians, cats, the word stranger never entered his mind.  He loved his stuffed animals, and always placed them in a little pile on his various beds.  They were his little babies and he was ever so gentle.  He had the sweetest face and when he would look at me his eyes always were filled with so much love.  Food was also a priority with Ernie, in fact he never knew the word "Full" when it came to eating.  He was always welcoming unsuspecting visitors to give him an infinite amount of cookies.

He helped me through my divorce, comforted me when my Stanley ( a cocker ) died, and just this last year helped me through my cancer.  He was diagnosed with Lymphoma in April, 2006 and fought a hard fight with quality of life the entire time until the end.  All the doctors thought it was a miracle that he lived this long due to his aggressive cancer, but the medicines kept working.  He had been given 6-8 weeks to live by the Oncologist a year ago January.  He was one of their favorite patients at South Paws and Pendervet.

I will miss him terribly, but I am thankful for having him in my life for the past 5 years.  I want to thank OBG for rescuing him  and allowing me to have the pleasure of loving Ernie and being graced with his love for me.  I know he is healthy again and running freely with his other cocker buddies, I just wish he could have lived forever with me.

Until we meet again Ernie,  I love you.
