Mocha (AKA LSD – Little Spotted Dog) from day one was nothing but a pleasure. At first, she was as a child on her best behavior at a relative’s house. She would not get up on furniture until you showed her which furniture was hers, and she would retreat to her crate for quiet time when all of the new surroundings were just too much. It took us awhile to figure out exactly what commands her previous owners had taught her, but with a few treats, she was more than willing to oblige us with her basic commands. Since that time, she really came out of her shell. She knew which recliner was hers, and often had difficulty in deciding in which of the four dog beds she’ll nap. We’ve never known such an outgoing, friendly, and loving dog. Some of her favorite things we discovered were:

- carrying her stuffed duck/goose collection
- walking along the Mt Vernon bike path
- shopping in Old Town Alexandria
- hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail
- chasing tennis balls on the tennis court
- sleeping within a sunbeam on the kitchen floor
- visiting her new grandparents
- picking home-grown tomatoes

Mocha fought hard, but eventually lost her battle with uncontrollable seizures. Throughout all of the medical tests and treatments, she put up with it all, with a butt wiggle here and a lick to the face there. She left a cold, icy January for a sweeter, warmer place with sunbeams, toys, treats, and where soft floppy ears stay magically clean. We’ll miss her. We loved Mocha, and we always will. Thank you OBG.
