Adopted: April 9, 2004
Passed over: October 18, 2008

We looked for an OBG cocker for 8 months until we found Molly, the perfect dog, for my Mom. Her foster Mom said she needed someone to be with her all day. My Mom was 86 at the time, retired and ready to give loving to Molly 24/7. We learned that Molly sadly was a stray and we figured she ran away from a terrible home and came looking for my Mom. OBG intervened and made the love connection possible. When we finally did meet her at PetsMart in March, 2004, it was love at first sight. Everyone else at the show wanted her also! The first cute thing we learned about her was that she loved to kiss noses. When you touched your nose, she would kiss it. She continued doing that until the day before she died. On that first day, we also learned that she liked to lift her leg when she peed :) We thought she had lived with male dogs during the first part of her life. We had to wait a few days to keep her because she was having surgery. Finally on, April 9, 2004 we were able to take her to her new home. It was a little rough at first because she thought my Morns blue carpet was green grass and then we discovered she was almost completely deaf. We were so sad she could not hear our voices, but we still talked to her and she could read our lips. She was very smart! After a couple of weeks of adjusting, all was right in the world with Molly and my Mom.

My Mom only had Molly for 4 years, 6 months and 9 days. She was such a bundle of joy. She was sweet, gentle, and affectionate. She could also be very verbal at times. She would let us know by barking when she wanted to eat or go for a walk. Every afternoon, she would wait at the front door for my daily visit, so that I would take her on one of her favorite walks, which had to be done as soon as I arrived (she had me well trained). She was my Mom's shadow 24/7. My Mom couldn't have asked for a more loving and loyal companion. She hated when Mom left the house and she would get sad when Mom started getting ready to go out. She loved to eat and always wanted treats. She would sit next to you while you were eating looking at you with those huge soulful eyes, just hoping for a little piece of food! My Mom had a hard time resisting her and Molly soon grew some love handles! She had a lot of medical issues through the years, but we took excellent care of her and made sure she got the best care available.

We just wish that Molly had run away sooner from her first home and that cancer had not ended her life too soon. We just don't know what we will do without her. We held her close and we told her how much we loved her as she left for her journey to the Rainbow Bridge on October 18. She was surrounded by loved ones in her favorite home We know it was her
favorite home because she didn't run away as she did in the first part of her life. She saved the best for last!

Though her bed, her spot on the couch and comfy mats are empty and her favorite mealtime spot remains empty, the happiness and love she gave us will remain in our hearts forever.  We hope we gave her as much to her life, as she did to ours.

Thanks to OBG for giving her a 2nd chance and giving us a chance to love such a wonderful dog!

Lovingly submitted,   Vicki (Molly's sister)  &  Dot (Molly's Mom)
