Mookie
Dedicated by Katie Kuster,
David Marshall, Julie Munson, Jeanette Siegel & Services Friends Although Mookie was not a rescue dog, his parents (Ron
& Alice Wiesner) both volunteer with Oldies But Goodies to help his furry
friends! Mookie was our best friend,
companion, and loving family member for 12 years.
By sharing our lives with Mookie, our love for other dogs has grown over
the years. We were very thankful to
have Mookie in our lives and decided to help out rescue dogs in his honor –
especially cocker spaniels. Mookie was our baby and we spoiled him with love,
affection, and treats throughout his entire life.
Mookie was with us nearly everywhere we went, traveling to nine different
states and the District of Columbia on family trips, vacations, and weekend
events. How many dogs can actually
say that they have seen Christmas in the Oaks in New Orleans, the Washington
Monument on the Mall, the Natural Bridge in southwestern Virginia, or Lookout
Mountain in Chattanooga, TN? Mookie
gave us his unconditional love and affection along with numerous happy times and
many great memories. He was always
there to put a smile on our face, give us comfort, or simply to let us know that
he cared. He cheered us up when we
were sad, and made good times even better. Although
he is no longer with us in the flesh, we know that he will always be with us in
spirit as we still feel his calming presence in our everyday activities. Mookie was an easy-going dog who enjoyed hanging out with
his family, cuddling on the couch, taking naps on a cool floor, sticking his
head out of a car window, and eating, eating, eating.
His never-ending appetite for food and his Houdini-like ability to take
food from unguarded plates still brings smiles of amazement to those who were
victimized. Mookie’s last attempt
to sneak food scraps (in this case pulled pork scraps that were discarded into a
cardboard box) resulted in his head getting stuck in a cardboard soda box.
It was an unbelievable sight to see poor Mookie walking around with a box
stuck on his head, bumping into walls, wondering who turned the lights out on
his eating binge.
