Odie Some of you sent wonderful donations (sponsorships) towards his vet care. Some of
you inquired about adopting him. Some of you held his leash at adoption events
One of you "rescued" him from the vet last night Most of you sent
prayers and well-wishes for his continued strength. Thank you, one and all. Everyone that met Odie knew how dear he was. Odie passed away at 7:30 this
morning. We knew he would eventually succumb to the megaesophagus by either
pneumonia or starvation. I never expected it would be so soon or so sudden. Odie started acting poorly on Tuesday. He spent yesterday at the vets on an IV
getting fluids. He was severely dehydrated. They sent him home overnight because
they don't keep staff 24 hours. I was to bring him back at 8am. Carolyn
was gracious enough to deliver him to me last night. She commented on how
fragile he was. Odie took a turn for the worse at about 4am. By the time I got him to my vet
(where staffers arrive early) at 6:30am -- it was already too late. Cyndi G,
Maggie's original foster, and a vet tech, was at the door of the clinic to meet
us. But there was nothing she could do. Thanks for trying Cyndi. I'm sure Odie is at the Bridge with my beloved Toby. He reminded me so much of
him. Our other departed cocker babies were there to welcome him too. I'll bet
there's a t-bone steak up there with his name on it -- one he can eat, enjoy and
