Spencer
Born:
1994
Passed Over: May 29, 2003
Spencer (aka Mr. McGillicutty
and "The King") was a very special dog to us even though he was only with us for
a short time. He was such a tough little guy and kept fighting despite his
seemingly insurmountable odds. He was never healthy enough to make it to an
adoption fair or be considered for adoption. It was as if he was meant to be a
part of our family and for that we are very grateful.
Spencer loved everyone and was happiest being around people, whether on a lap,
snuggled on the sofa, or underfoot. He loved to hang out with his foster
sisters, Minnie and Bailey; to roam around the garden and smell the spring
flowers; to eat his special pizza for dinner; and to ESPECIALLY sleep sandwiched
in between his foster mom and dad at night. He made sure to snore extra loud to
show us how happy he was to be in such a cozy spot!
The vets and technicians at Pender (The Spencer Fan Club) called him "Champ"
because of how he kept coming back even when he got knocked down. He was a real
fighter. Spencer made it through seizures, high blood pressure, glaucoma, ear
infections, dehydration, malnutrition, and a sinus infection in addition to his
failing kidneys. Spencer had two glorious weeks where he wasn't visibly sick,
where he had an appetite, could see, had energy, and even gained two pounds. He
made the most of those weeks and lived the good life. We hoped that he would
have a long stable period where he would stay healthy but it was just a matter
of time before his body gave out on him and his little nub tail stopped wagging.
We miss him, and are grateful for the brief but happy times that we were able to
share with him.
