Teddy Valentino

Born: April 15, 1991
Adopted: November 22, 1996
Passed Over: October 30, 2002

Teddy Valentino, our blind b/w parti-cocker, has crossed over the Rainbow Bridge.  His kidneys were giving him trouble and despite all the special diets that we devised, recently his blood levels just kept getting worse.  The vet indicated that the toxins in his blood system had increased the acid flow in the stomach so he got bleeding ulcers and would not eat.  Despite IVs and massive antibiotics, things did not improve.  We also learned that Teddy had come down with pancreatic cancer that had spread into his stomach; thus his lack of appetite in his final days.  Obviously it was time to say good-bye and give him his rest.

Teddy was one wonderful little dog with a big heart and great personality, and we'll always to grateful to Debbie and Armin Reitz for letting us adopt him.  But with 18 allergies, skin problems, blindness, kidney disease, and then pancreatic cancer, his little body just couldn't take it any more.  Teddy had 6 1/2 years with us and died at age 11 1/2.  Debbie Reitz saved him when he was 2 years old and took care of him until he was 5 years old.  Nobody wanted him until we came along.  As with Debbie, we saw that special quality in Teddy that endeared anyone to him if one simply took the time.  Teddy died young, but during his short life he gave so much of himself to us in love and attention, despite his physical problems.  We'll all really miss that little guy.  Play on Little Guy and enjoy Rainbow Bridge; you deserve it.
