This adorable 3-year-old, 15 pound fella found himself at the animal shelter when his family fell on hard times.  Shadow is very shy, but extremely sweet with those he trusts.  He is great with other dogs and would love a confident dog in his new home to show him the ropes, as Shadow often takes his cues about how to behave from other canines.  Did we mention that this guy is completely house-trained?

Shadow is very fearful of new people.  It takes him a little time to warm up to visitors, but once he knows you're one of the good guys, he's putty in your hand.  Because of his fears, Shadow would prefer a home with a predictable routine and not too many strangers coming in and out.  He would not be a good match for a family with children.

Shadow is in excellent health.  He was born with a birth defect called a patent ductus arteriosis (PDA).  A PDA happens when a connection between 2 vessels in the heart that usually closes at birth did not close.   It is a common heart defect in several breeds of dogs including cocker spaniels.  Shadow had this repaired, and his heart is perfect now.  He has been totally cleared by cardiology, so he does not need to see them again.
