Need a vacation somewhere nice? Maybe Maui?

...but can't afford the plane ticket to Hawaii? (Neither can we!) How about a sweet black and white cocker named Maui instead? Time spent with this sweet 3-year-old boy will feel like a vacation!

Our vet and groomer have both said that Maui has a wonderful personality. He only got a little uncomfortable when it came to examining his ears, but that was because they were very infected due to his time as a stray. (With most Cockers, careful ear cleaning on a routine basis and vet care will keep infections and other problems away!). Maui would do better in a home without small kids who might tug on his ears though.

Maui is very smart and busy.  Did you know he had a job at his first foster home?  He carried the newspaper or mail down the long driveway and into the house.  He was very proud of his work and enjoyed the treat for a job well done.  Maui is also inquisitive and his nose leads him all kinds of places.  We think he would make a great agility dog (check our this short clip of him racing for a ball).  It would be great for confidence building, mental stimulation, and exercise.

Maui has one quirk that shows that he didn't have the well-rounded life every puppy deserves: he is afraid of men. This doesn't mean that Maui needs a ladies-only home, but his forever home would need to work to countercondition him to the presence of men. The process of counterconditioning is extremely effective if you take the time to do it. We've seen great success rehabilitating dogs with fear and reactivity and can recommend trainers and classes for you if you've fallen in love with Maui's sweet face.

This boy has a long and happy life ahead of him and will make his forever home a wonderful, joyful place to be. Don't you deserve a little Maui in your life?
