Baxter

Hi, my name is Baxter and I'm a 7-8 year old, 34 pound cutie!  My previous owner is very sick and cannot care for me any longer, so her family took me to a shelter.  I was very frightened there, and the nice shelter people helped me get to OBG. 

Since I am so new to OBG, my foster mom is still learning about me.  I am coal black with a smidgen of white on my nose and chin, and I have brown eyes that will melt your heart.  My previous owner took very good care of me.  I know how to play fetch, some basic cues, and how to catch tennis balls in the air (and drop them on cue).  I also know how to "work" humans for table food, but my foster mommy isn't responding to my woeful looks. She says I need to lose about 5 lbs so that as I grow older my joints won't have issues. I don’t have a lot of practice with leash manners, however I am a super fast learner and want to please. I have some submissive urination when I meet new people, but that might improve as I settle in and gain more confidence.  I would do best as an only dog.  Most of all, I love to be near my human, and I love toys and games that make me think.
